Samsung France confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 3 Neo

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is in for a neat treat later this year, as it will receive an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo launched back in February 2014, coming as a watered down version of the Galaxy Note 3 with a more affordable price tag.

The phablet features a 5.5-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs an Exynos processor under the hood, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. On the software side, the handset shipped with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but it may soon get a neat update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The good news is not just another rumor either, as it comes straight from the company's French arm, as spotted by SamMobile. More specifically, in response to a user inquiry on Twitter, Samsung France said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is indeed set to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop, and the update should arrive later this year.

Google officially unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop back in mid-October, and the update has already made its way to various devices ever since. A number of Samsung devices got a taste of Lollipop as well, but the company has an extensive lineup and Lollipop has yet to reach more devices. The Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, and a few other Samsung devices already got the treat, and more should receive it soon enough.

Samsung France did not mention just when exactly the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is scheduled to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop, but it's nonetheless good to know that the update is on its way.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is a major update over the previous version of Android, and will bring a slew of neat changes, improvements and new features to the table. The Galaxy Note 3 Neo may not be a top-notch phablet, but the last major version of Android will surely enhance the experience and maximize the device's potential. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more specific details regarding the update, so stay tuned.
