Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge start shipping today, April 6

Sprint customers who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge should receive their new smartphones starting Monday, April 6.

The new-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones made their debut back in early March at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, and will finally hit commercial availability later this week. Both handsets are set to go on sale in the U.S., as well as globally, on April 10.

All major U.S. carriers will offer the two handsets, and some early buyers who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship or the Galaxy S6 Edge curved-display smartphone will receive their new gadget before the April 10 retail release. T-Mobile has already shipped some units to pre-order customers, and Sprint joins the party today.

A few days ago, Sprint officially announced that it will start shipping the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to pre-order customers on Monday, April 6. This means that customers who pre-ordered one of the two smartphones from Sprint will soon have their smartphone in their hands, if they don't have it already.

As a reminder, the new-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come with a number of notable improvements and new features, boasting high-end specs all around. First of all, Samsung finally ditched the plastic body for a more premium design, albeit it's not metal as some hoped it would be. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come with metal frames and glass backs, instead of plastic as the company's previous flagships.

When it comes to specifications, the handsets rock 5.1-inch displays with QHD resolutions of 2560 x 1440 pixels, powerful Exynos 7420 octa-core processors under the hood, and 3GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come in three internal storage configurations - 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB - and have no microSD card slot for additional memory. The Galaxy S6 has a 2,550 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2,600 mAh unit (both non-removable).

On the software side, the smartphones ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, complete with Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have stirred lots of interest since their debut and are expected to be widely popular. If you pre-ordered one of the two smartphones from Sprint, let us know once you receive your device. Is it everything you hoped it would be?
