iPhone turns into DSLR quality camera - thanks to DxO One

Taking pictures with a smartphone has become more common than using a specialized digital camera. Cameras in your mobile phones have become really good, however they are still lacking the quality of digital-SLR.

The digital image processing company DxO aims to change this situation. They designed DxO One, a DSLR-quality camera that is pocket-sized. DxO One will allow connection to iPads and iPhones, via the Lightning connector. The camera, due to be available on the market in the fall, promises to turn your smartphone into a high quality photo shooter rivaling images take with a DSLR camera.

DxO One can be used as standalone camera or, when connected with your iPad or iPhone, your mobile device will become your viewfinder. DxO One's price may seem expensive for a iPhone accessory, but you have to take into consideration that the device is meant to compete against full-sized DSLR cameras. However, at a price of $599, DxO One is still more likely to appeal to photo enthusiasts rather than professional photographers.

The photos taken with DxO One can be stored on camera's own microSD card or transferred to the Camera Roll on the iPad or iPhone. You can also edit them, same as other photos taken with the iPad' or iPhone's own cameras. For a limited time, DxO One comes with its own image processing software included within the price of the camera.

The photo and video editing software from DxO allows users to reproduce the look and quality of analog film and process RAW files. The DxO One camera can capture a SuperRAW file by capturing four RAW files in quick succession. When you connect the camera to a Mac or PC those images are merged together.

The camera stands only 2.65 inches tall and weighs 3.8 ounces. It comes with f/1.8 lens equivalent to 32 mm lens and a 20.2 megapixel sensor. With the free iOS app that is delivered together with the camera, users can change the ISO from 100 to 51.200 and the aperture from f/1.8 to f/8000s.

When it's connected to the iPad or iPhone the DxO One camera allows selfies and shots from different perspectives. DxO One also features 1080p video recording capabilities. DxO One can leverage the iPhone flash, since it doesn't come with its own flash. However, the camera will perform very well in low light, whether you use the flash or not.

Amateur and professional photographers alike will certainly appreciate the stunning images taken with DxO One. We are looking forward to more quality camera accessories for our smartphones, coming from the competitors. This is certainly a market with great potential for growth.
