iPad Mini 4 May Have Split-View Mode

Apple's next iPad, the iPad Mini 4, may be equipped with a split-view mode. The speculation is based on the new device being powered by the latest operating system from the company, the iOS 9. The tech giant has announced that the iPad 2, which is run by the said operating system, will have the split-view mode. The new iPad Mini is also powered by iOS 9.

While Apple has not commented on the speculations, tech website CNet has indicated that these may be confirmed during the September 9 launch of its new line of iPhones. This is also an event wherein iPads will have a demo. The split-view feature is a good selling point for the company's well-known tablet.

The feature is already present on the devices of Apple's competitors. Samsung's Note series, for instance, is already equipped with the split-screen view. The feature is indeed very useful, as it allows users to open and use two apps at the same time. And it does make sense that the newest iPad model will have the important mode, which is a marketable upgrade for the device.

While the feature is ideal for bigger devices, like the iPad 2 which has a screen size of 9.7 inches, the company may be testing the split-screen on the 7.9-inch mini. It worked for a 5.5-inch phablet, so it may as well work for a 7.9-inch tablet. This, however, will still have to be waited on and seen until Apple's launching event on September 9, or the traditional October release for the device.

iPad has suffered from dwindling sales, following the overall decline of the tablet market. iPad's market share has dropped from 27.7 percent to 24.5 percent, in the second quarter of this year. The iPad model released last year, iPad 3, did not come with any notable updates. The split-screen may just be it for the company's iPad line.
