Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Launches In India

On Aug 14, Friday-Samsung has announced the bigger and thicker variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. On Wednesday, Aug 19, the Korean tech company has brought the flagship to India. The India-based Samsung headquarters sent out invites to a Wednesday event, teasing the company's loyal followers of a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus release on that day. The Galaxy Note 5, which is widely believed to be scheduled for a launch within the month, did not make an appearance in the event.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus retails for Rs. 57,900, which is about $890, and comes in 32GB and 64GB. The device features top-of-the line specs, offering Quad HD resolution and Samsung's favored AMOLED technology. The 5.7-inch device brings in a 3,000 mAh battery, a longer battery life as compared to the smaller variant. The Galaxy S6 Edge is equipped with a 2,600 mAh battery.

Adding to the plus factors of the new device is the 7420 Exynos processor and high-resolution front and rear cameras. The device has a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. According to NDTV, the new phone is equipped with a finger sensor, allowing the camera to be activated by tapping on the home button twice. The device also comes with a Live Broadcast feature.

Apart from the existing features of the new smartphone, Samsung has announced several additional modules and external enhancements for the device. These will include a keyboard cover described as 'BlackBerry-like', which retails for Rs. 4, 499, and a wireless charging module, which sells for Rs. 3, 599. Another variant for the cover is a Rs. 2,999 'Smart' Clear View cover.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is scheduled to go on sale starting Aug 28 in the country. Pre-order period has begun on Aug 14, Friday. The device will be launched in the United States on Aug 21.
