Google's Android Wear App Now Works With iPhones

A search major Google has released the iOS version of Android Wear. The app has already begun rolling out on Monday and it enables users of Android wearable devices to pair their gadgets up with iPhones. The Android Wear for iOS will work with iPhone 5 and other more recent iPhone models.

According to Business Insider, Android Wear for iOS can only use LG Watch Urbane for pairing as of the moment. The company promises to enable Android Wear for iOS to work for all wearables that run the operating system in the future. Devices which use the Android Wear OS include Huawei, LG, Motorola and Asus.

"Just pair your iPhone (iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus running iOS 8.2+) with an Android Wear watch to bring simple and helpful information right to your wrist," Google wrote in the company's official blog post about the new version of the Android Wear app. The search giant then iterated what Android Wear can do while working with the iPhone.

The app will enable users to always be updated with information from their iPhone apps. Notifications will appear on their wearables once paired with the smartphone. Also, they will be able to keep track of their health and fitness, as well as receive practical tips by asking Google Now.

Android Wear is the Google owned and developed an operating system for wearable devices. Several smartwatch brands are powered by the operating system. Apps have also been released to work specifically with Android Wear. The LG Watch Urbane, which is currently the only wearable to work with the Android Wear for iOS, has been released a few months ago.

Just a few days before, LG has introduced the LG Watch Urbane Luxe, which is also an Android Wear device. The smartwatch is made of gold and leather and has earlier been reported to retail for $1200.
