Apple Unveils iPad Pro

The Apple event has shown off its upcoming releases, from the iPhone 6S to the Apple TV, and then to the latest iPad model, the iPad Pro. The Cupertino titan's new tablet is equipped with key features that set it apart from previous iPad models. The new iPad Pro is Apple's bid  to attract a bigger market for its tablet.

Irish Examiner cites several new features of the iPad Pro. The new device sports a stylus called the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is able to distinguish strokes and pressures, thus allowing users to draw and shade like they would, using a traditional pen. The stylus can then be tucked in with a keyboard that clips it. Microsoft's Surface Pro sports similar features.

The new device boasts a display that has more than five million pixels. It also has the A9X chip, which is eight times as fast as other Apple processors. The iPad Pro has a screen size that measures 12.9 inches, which clearly indicates a function tailored especially for the working client. The apps that are rolling in with the iPad are all aimed towards productivity, beginning with Adobe. And with Apple welcoming Microsoft Office chief Kirk Koenigsbauer to the event stage, it's apparent that the new iPad will be equipped with apps from the new Microsoft.

Microsoft, which has been the company's longtime nemesis, has presented its Office app for the new Apple product. Apple's head of marketing Phil Schiller has admitted that "yeah, these guys know productivity". And since the office is the target, and Apple won't be deterred in making the iPad Pro the top pick for it, instead of showing off its iWork apps, the company gave the stage to Microsoft.

While this seems like a stab to the Surface Pro, competition to the iPad Pro, the coming together of the two tech giants is aligned with the software company's aim of opening its platforms to everyone around the world. This is indeed a key feature, not only for iPad Pro but for the Apple company itself and Microsoft as well.

Koenigsbauer closed his presentation by saying, "At Microsoft we really believe that bringing together the iPad Pro with Microsoft Office -- the ink, the multitasking capabilities - will really transform the way people work on these type of devices."
