Microsoft's E-mail/Texting App Send Now On Android

Last July, Microsoft Launched an app that aims to combine the best of e-mail and instant messaging, and turn it into a unified experience. However, it was only available for iPhone users with Office 365 business and education customers. Two months later, Microsoft has made the app, albeit in its preview version available for Android phones with 4.2 Jelly Bean and above.

Send will remain in its preview status while Microsoft brings it to level with its iPhone version. The Redmond-based company has also added that they are working on a Windows Phone version.

"Send has been welcomed by universities, organizations with office workers and organizations with a mobile workforce. We've heard the app is improving communication flow around offices, campuses and other workplaces, because it's based on a universal platform that everyone has access to-email. You told us that Send is a much-needed alternative to the consumer chat applications that can find their way into an organization." said by Microsoft's Outlook Team on Office Blogs.

The short-form e-mail app is now available to download for countries such as the United Kingdom, Brazil and Denmark in addition to the United States and Canada. However, Send is still only available for Office 365 users and those with education accounts. Also, there is still no official announcement as to when the app will be released in Asian regions.

In addition to the Android release, Microsoft has also added support for animated GIF sharing - a feature that has been greatly wanted by users of the app. According to Microsoft, "sometimes a simple GIF can express more than words ever could." Users can also now delete conversations, add people to conversations, send direct messages to people from a group conversation, share their location and make phone calls.

Android users can download Send Beta on the Google Play Store here.
