HP And Ericsson Are Working Together For Networking

Tech companies Ericsson and Hewlett Packard have teamed up to develop new internet solutions for mobile networking. The partnership also includes Aruba, which has been acquired by HP this year for $2.7 billion. Ericsson and Hewlett Packard are also signing a bilateral reseller agreements, which will offer the solutions to the market.

According to Channel Life New Zealand, Aruba's enterprise wi-fi technology will be offered by Ericsson. For its part, HP will be reselling Ericsson's internet technology, the licensed band small cell solution. The partnership aims to bring wi-fi and LTE solutions that both parties call 'ground-breaking'. The two companies will then be developing more of such technologies, and then subsequently bring them to the market.

Ericsson and HP intend to bring the Wi-fi and LTE solutions to expand indoor coverage, addressing the growing needs for internet in the workplace and other areas wherein productivity is a must. Wi-fi in campuses, for instance, is growing increasingly important. Aruba has addressed the needs for campus networking, and its acquisition ensures HP a share in the said sector.

The collaboration makes use of licensed and unlicensed technologies, and also utilizes frequency bands to deliver better performance of wi-fi devices. Antonio Neri of HP emphasized the need for productivity in work places. "Together we expect to transform the way mobile networks are deployed in order to stay ahead of the pace of mobile requirements," The executive Vice President and general manager of HP Enterprise Group said in the announcement.

Arun Bansal Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Radio in Ericsson said that Ericsson and HP have worked together successfully. "It's a powerful combination and a perfect complement to Ericsson's leadership in mobile infrastructure as we evolve to address new operator and enterprise opportunities," he explained further.

HP is not Ericsson's only partner for delivering internet solutions. The company is also working with Airtel for LTE deployment in Gabon. Ericsson announced the partnership in late July this year. "Mobile broadband data is a key driver for economic growth in Gabon. The LTE launch will ensure our customers have the highest speeds and best experience available," Christian de Faria, chief operations officer of Bharti Airtel Africa said about the project. Most recently, the company has announced its partnership with LG for a similar project.
