Microsoft Announces Opening Date For Sydney Store

Software giant Microsoft will be opening its flagship store in Sydney, Australia. The company has first announced that it will be opening a Microsoft store in the country in April this year. The opening date has been revealed, and it is just a little over a month from now. The Redmond-based software company's move to open a shop in Australia comes its rivals', Apple and Samsung, own shop opening. Samsung has opened a shop just meters away from Apple's. 

The software company's blog post has revealed that the grand opening of the Westfield Sydney Microsoft Store at Pitt Street Mall will be held on Nov. 12, which falls on a Thursday. The opening begins at 12 noon AET. Microsoft is also set to open a store in New York. The New York store will open this coming Oct. 26, Monday, at 12 noon, ET.

Microsoft said that the two flagship stores have been in the making for the past six years. The Australia store, according to Sydney Morning Herald, will have two floors and will take up around 6,000 square feet/ 500 square meters of land area. The new store boasts of staff members who come from different countries and are able to speak around 21 different languages. The store will have and area designated for retail sale and interaction.

The grand opening of the two flagship Microsoft stores will be celebrated by the company in a "big way," as stated in the blog post. The software giant will be donating more than $5 million in software and technology grants to social organizations of the company's choice. Microsoft said that this is part of the company's mission to "help people achieve more in their lives."

"Our team is hard at work to ensure we provide outstanding service to everyone who enters these stores. We are thankful for the support of the people of New York City and Sydney, who have been working with and welcoming us into these communities," Microsoft stated.
