Virgin Mobile Announces Partnership With Australian Music Streaming Service

Vodafone has Spotify, and Telstra has Apple Music. Now, telecommunications company Virgin Mobile has announced its own partnership with a music streaming service. Virgin Mobile has made the announcement on Oct. 8, Thursday. The company signed a partnership with Australian music streaming service, Guvera.

Virgin Mobile's partnership with Guvera will offer "unlimited music with no subscription cost." The service will not be totally free, of course, but ZDNet says that the only thing users need to pay for is the data to stream music. The telecommunications company also indicated that it has plans of offering an additional 1 GB of data for customers who availed of the service. This can be enjoyed by existing customers and new ones who took the postpaid offer.

For Virgin Mobile, 1 GB is already a big bonus for its users. The company says that users will be able to play more than 400 tracks, and use the streaming service for more than 20 hours with that amount of data. David Scribner, CEO of the mobile provider, says that the new partnership is the "next step in our commitment to make mobile better."

Scribner added that users have a fear of what he calls "data drain," or not having enough data to maximize service usage. He said the company has listened to the concerns of its users and has worked to address this with the bonus 1 GB data. "This is peace of mind for music streamers." He further iterated that the company did not just offer a music streaming platform but a way for users to support mobile usage with the additional data.

Within two days of downloading the Guvera app, the bonus 1 GB will be added during billing. This will be linked to the users' mobile numbers, and can be availed by those who download the app anytime between Oct. 8 and April 30. The company will charge extra once the user exceeds the monthly allowance.
