Microsoft has already released new gadgets early this month, and the software company has unveiled a second generation Microsoft Band, the Surface Pro 4 tablet, the company's first ever laptop, the Surface Book and new Lumia phone models. The releases follow the launch of Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 10. The gadgets have been welcomed by generally positive reviews, especially the Surface Book, which has been given a standing ovation in the demonstration in the event.
The Lumia 930, one of the new Lumia models released in the event, is also getting some positive feedback from initial reviews. The new flagship comes with a new software update called Lumia Denim, which Neuro Gadget says allows the device to compete with some of the most popular flagship devices in the mobile market. The Lumia Denim update is available for owners of Lumia 930, Lumia 1520 and Lumia 830 devices, which all run the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.
The Lumia Denim equips the smartphone owners with better camera experience, allowing users to catch multiple shots simultaneously. Microsoft's voice assistant, Cortana, is also coming with the latest software update. Microsoft says that users simply need to say, "Hey Cortana" to activate the virtual assistant. Cortana's arrival in the mobile market is a continuation of the voice assistant's roll out into more and more Microsoft devices.
Lumia Denim also features live folders and what the company calls a more "optimised screen glance". The lock screen contains more important information such as important appointments for the day apart from the usual date, time and weather. It also shows notifications of calls and messages received. With the update, the phone also offers faster browsing.
While other Lumia devices are eligible for the update, the 930 model is getting the attention because it is a flagship sold for a reasonable $599 price. With specs including 20 MP rear camera, enabled 4G, 2GB RAM, OLED display and tested durability among others, the model offers value for money and is well recommended for those looking for flagships on a budget.
