Sundar Pichai Makes First Major Appointments As Google CEO

Search giant Google has been making many announcements over the last couple of months, mostly concerning apps and softwares that the company constantly updates. A few months back, the big announcement was that Alphabet has been formed, and Google will just be one of the companies under it. The new structure has made way for the appointment of a new CEO for Google, Sundar Pichai.

Now, Pichai has made his first major appointments as the Chief Executive Officer of the company. The new appointments are mostly in the ads and Android department, according to Android Community. Google is hopeful that the changes will bring in more profits for the tech giant. One of the new appointees is Hiroshi Lockheimer, who is a VP for Android.

Lockheimer, who has been with Google since 2006, is now taking over as Senior Vice President for Android, Chromecast and Chrome OS. Lockheimer is said to be one of the closest people to Pichai. Current Vice President for display and advertisement Neal Mohan will be taking over as Senior Vice President. Big names in the tech industry such as Twitter and Dropbox have wanted Mohan on their side, given that the Google executive is a powerful figure in Silicon Valley.

Mohan stays with Google and will be in charge of the company's display and ad videos. Mohan is heavily involved in the ad videos and other displays for the company, and being heavily involved in YouTube, which is arguably the biggest online video platform, will be a challenge for the executive. Philip Schindler is another SVP appointee.

Schindler will now be working as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Operations. He joined Google when the company acquired DoubleClick, an outfit which Schindler owns, according to Dispatch Times. Schindler used to be an ads VP before the promotion.
