Fossil Releases New Smartwatches

Fossil has enjoyed its status as a trusted and established watch maker. The brand is known for stylish and classy timepieces which users wear as practical accessories and durable devices. But nowadays, with the rise of the smart wearables, Fossil and other traditional watch makers are recognizing the need for more than just a trusty timepiece.

The thirty-year old brand has just introduced two new smartwatches and smartbands, according to a report from Android Community. The smartwatches are Fossil Q Grant and Fossil Q Founder. On the surface, the two devices look like the sleek and modern watches the company has been known for making. Underneath, they are functional smartwatches.

The Fossil Founder is said to be the first smartwatch to be powered by Intel. It also includes a full touchscreen display, according to a report form The Verge. Both the Q Grant and the Q Founder are powered by Android Wear. The two watches are equipped with the features of typical smartwatches nowadays, as they are able to connect the device to the smartphone, give notifications and monitor the user's fitness and activity.

A handy feature is the colour-coded contacts, with which users will be able to associate contacts with particular colours of LED lights. So when a blue light goes off on the watch, it indicates that a specific contact has called or sent a message to the user. The watch manufacturer has also made other wrist candies available in the form of smart bracelets.

The Q Reveler and Q Dreamer bracelets also feature the colour LEDs which the smartwatches are equipped with. The bracelets will be available beginning on Oct. 25, for US$125. The Q Grant will be available on the same day for US$175-195. The Q Founder will be on sale later this year for US$275.
