Google Launches New Phones In Australia

Google has just held a Nexus event early this month, showcasing the company's new smartphone models. The company has previously released Nexus models, which have launched with a lot of positive feedback. The Nexus 5, in particular, has garnered praises and has even been touted as one of the best smartphones today. Now, its successor, the Nexus 5X, and the Huawei-made Nexus 6P have both been released in Australia. 

The LG Nexus 5X builds on the success of the Nexus 5. A News.com report says that the new phone will be exclusive to Telstra, which has a $70-plan inclusive of unlimited calls and texts. The plan also includes a 7 GB data available for use every month. With this data plan, the Nexus 5X costs $0.

The device will begin selling with the telco plan next week Tuesday. The Nexus 5X retails for $659 for the 16 GB variation and $739 for the 32 GB version.The device has a USB Type-C support, and it sports a 5.2-inch display. Charging the phone for 10 minutes will give it a 4-hour battery life. 

The Huawei Nexus 6P is the first full-metal body Nexus smartphone. This is also the first device Huawei has made for Google. The Nexus 6P is equipped with the Gorilla Glass, a 5.7-inch QHD display and also a USB Type-C support. A 10-minute charging will give the device 7 hours worth of battery life.

The Nexus 6P comes in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variations. Price begins at $899. The new smartphone is available for pre-order at the Google Store. The 6P will be available in Optus and Vodafone. For Optus, it will cost $65 per month. For Vodafone, the price is $85. 

With the release of the two new smartphones, Google also introduces the Android Marshmallow operating system to Australians. The latest operating system boasts better performance than its predecessors. According to a Business Insider report, Marshmallow, which is run by the two new smartphones, includes a feature called Now On Tap, which allows users to unlock their phones with just one tap. The OS also boasts of a longer battery life, made possible by a battery-saving feature.
