Preview Roads With Bing Maps' Traffic Cam

Back in the day, people would have to watch out for the morning news or listen closely to the radio for traffic reports so that they will not end up being late for work. And as time progresses, several innovations came such as crowdsourced apps to determine traffic, online channels that provide live update about roads and so forth. It seems that Bing is ready to jump in the bandwagon as its mapping service will now give motorists a view of what the traffic looks like in their routes.

Bing has announced through its official blog that its mapping service, Bing Maps, now allows users to view more than 35,000 traffic cameras across 11 countries to provide a better view of the current road conditions.

Users will now be able to see traffic conditions overlaid on the roads. Zooming in on the map will bring up a variety of traffic cameras. Bing provided an example with a traffic camera on Bing Maps providing a view of I-90 in the Seattle area. This would be a very ideal solution for commuters as it provides real-time traffic information to its users that are currently on the road.

Should users want to compare a few cameras, Bing Maps can display recently viewed cameras in the summary section. This will give users a fast and convenient access to traffic cameras that would be useful for daily commutes.

Last year, Bing had integrated the Clearflow traffic prediction algorithm to deliver a more accurate trip time to destinations for people on the road, but the company said that it's just the tip of the iceberg. Now, Bing Maps shows traffic cameras to provide a more comfortable driving experience for the people.

Bing is also open for feedback and thoughts from its user base, and those interested can do so by visiting the Bing Listens web page.
