Xiaomi Outs The Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi has easily dominated the Android race, putting itself in direct competition against monolithic smartphone manufacturers Samsung, LG and HTC. The Chinese company's portfolio of supercharged devices presented at very appealing price-points has served a wonderful offering for people looking for capable smartphones. To capitalize on its success, Xiaomi has just announced the Redmi Note 3, complete with a full metal body, a fingerprint sensor, and a full HD display.

For starters, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a full aluminum unibody design that comes with a 120-point ultra-fine double-sided sandblasting as well as curved edges, giving it a more premium feel compared to other smartphones in competition.

As far as its hardware sheet goes, Xiaomi's latest offering features a MediaTek Helio X10 processor--the same one from its predecessor. It will reportedly come in two variants as well. Those who want the cheaper option can go for the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage combination, while those who can spend more can go for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage pairing.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a 13 megapixel primary camera with phase detection autofocus and two-tone flash, and its 5 megapixel front facing camera also features 36 smart beauty profiles to cater to selfie aficionados. Furthermore, it's equipped with a 4,000mAh battery to give way for more screen time.

Xiaomi is also donning the Redmi Note 3 with a fingerprint sensor--a feature that's reserved for flagship smartphones that are currently in the market today. According to Xiaomi's press photos, unlocking the Redmi Note 3 only takes 0.3 seconds using the fingerprint sensor.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 carries an RMB 899 (US$141) price tag for the base model, while the 3GB and 32GB pairing will retail for RMB 1099 (US$172). It will also be available in grey, gold and silver.
