Assassin's Creed' Collection Disappoints Fans, What It Actually Is

Fans are not to happy after learning that the "Assassin's Creed Collection" is not a new game, nor an HD re-release, but a figurine subscription service.

The "Assassin's Creed" fandom went into a frenzy when Ubisoft registered a domain for "Assassin's Creed Collection" last December. VG 24/7, along with other news outlets, assumed that a new "Assassin's Creed" game is in the works. Even Reddit posters thought that it will be a remastered compilation of the previous games.

Now the real "Assassin's Creed Collection" has been revealed, and no, it's not a game. Destructoid reports that the "Assassin's Creed Collection" is actually a subscription service for some hand painted, 1:21-sized "Assassin's Creed" figurines made by Hachette Partworks.

The figurines will come with their own magazine, detailing the lore of each character. Altair, Ezio Auditore, Haytham Kenway, Jacob Frye, Cesare Borgia and Shay Cormac will all be getting their own figurine models, Gamespot revealed.

The subscription will cost £2.99 (around $4) for the first figurine and magazine, GamesRadar reports, and will gradually increase with every new issue. The subscription also comes with free stuff, including a tankard with the "Assassin's Creed" logo on it and an official collection binder to put the magazines in.

The issue, however, is not with the price of the subscription, but with the figures themselves. Destructoid describes the figurines as waxy, low-quality and ugly. GamesRadar's Louise Blain is equally disappointed, stating that the figurine models are not even passable and has called them a "plastic death".

Fans who were expecting the "Assassin's Creed Collection" to be an actual game may be very disappointed with this news. To be fair, Ubisoft previously confirmed that no mainline "Assassin's Creed" titles are lined up for this year. The game developer has their hands full with supervising the movie adaptation for the game, which will be out in December.
