Dell Introduces New Liquid Cooling Innovation

Dell is among the biggest players in the computer technology market. And now, the tech giant is set to introduce a new liquid cooling innovation called "Triton." This is certainly something to look forward to, especially by the company's massive data center clients.

According to Forbes, the new liquid cooling innovation from Dell is the result of over 6 years of design works and evolution. "Triton" is set to feature a performance level that is specifically developed for high CPU-intensive workloads. And take note, such level is not present in every old-school air-cooled products.

"Triton" from Dell is aimed toward customers whose primary goal is to acquire the best possible TCO (total cost of ownership) in their respective data centers. Through this new liquid cooling innovation, they can save a huge amount of operational costs, thanks to the well-enhanced power efficiency.

It is worth noting that the brand-new liquid cooling solution from Dell can successfully achieve a PUE (power utilization effectiveness) that ranges from 1.026 to 1.029. This is something that most common data centers cannot attain, as they usually range from 1.4 to 2.0.

The most interesting part is that it can almost utilize any form of facility water -- from the typical cooling tower water to the most advanced chilled water distribution system. Nonetheless, Dell iterates that the water should, in one way or another, comply with all the necessary ASHREA guidelines.

Data Center Knowledge, on the other hand, notes that this new Dell liquid cooling system can bring the facility cooling tower water straight to all the chips found inside a server chassis. It should be noted, however, that there are no central distribution units included.

Furthermore, one of the primary aspects of "Triton's" design is its capability to utilize water that is usually warmer. It is said to use a 33 degrees Celsius water if the customized CPUs of data centers run at a very high frequency. But if lower-powered CPUs are to be utilized, the new Dell liquid innovation can supply a water temperature of 60 degrees Celsius.
