Microsoft Surface Pro vs. Huawei MateBook: Battle Of The Hybrids

The demand for 2-in-1 devices, particularly the laptop and tablet hybrid is increasing. Electronic manufacturers have certainly taken notice. Microsoft already has Surface Pro 4 out in the market and it is doing very well. Meanwhile, the most recent to join is Huawei, which has recently revealed its own 2-in-1 device: the MateBook.

As Digital Trend notes, the Surface Pro 4 features plenty of storage, a high-resolution touch display and a sixth-generation Intel chip. It is definitely the best that Microsoft has to offer in their Surface line. Meanwhile, the Huawei MateBook looks a lot like Apple's iPad Pro, but is much closer to the Surface Pro in terms of content. The MateBook is, after all, powered by Windows 10.

The Microsoft Surface Pro features an Intel Core m3, i5, or i7. It also comes with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. The device comes with a USB 3.0 port, as well as ports for a microSD, a 3.5mm headset, a Mini DisplayPort, cover connection and surface connect. It claims to run for as much as 9 hours.

For around $800, users can enjoy the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. It comes with an 8 megapixel real camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It weighs 1.69 points and is 11.50 x 7.93 x 3.3 inches all around.

Meanwhile, the Huawei MateBook features a 6th generation Intel Core m. It comes in two options - 4GB or 8GB of RAM with 126GB, 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The built in ports include USB Type C, a 3.5mm headset and the keyboard connection. The battery life reportedly can last up to 10.5 hours.

For a much cheaper price of around $700, users can get their hands on the Huawei MateBook. It is both smaller and lighter at just 1.41 pounds and 10.97 x 7.64 x .27 inches.

As CRN adds, the MateBook has a 12-inch display, which is just slightly smaller than the Surface Pro 4's 12.3 inch display. The publication also points out that that the MateBook's stylus and keypad must be purchased separately at $59 and $129 respectively. Meanwhile, the stylus of the Surface Pro 4 comes for free with the device, but the keyboard will cost $129 as well.
