MSI's New Radeon RX 480 Gaming Cards Announced In 8GB, 4GB And Non-X Variants

MSI has released a set of new Gaming X GPU devices, called the Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G and the Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 4G. There are also non-X variants available. As the non-X options are relatively less powerful, there is a definite difference in pricing as well, though the actual amount is unclear at this point.

As Anand Tech reports, all the variants share the same look. That is, they are all sharp-edged with a red and black design for the cooler, which has two large fans. Further, they all sport the MSi logo at the side and a back plate on the Gaming X cards. The back plate is simply optional for the non-X variants. The three heat pipes are each 8mm thick, and are mated to a copper baseplate. The pipes square off at the bottom to allow the most efficient heat transfer. According to Legit Reviews, all choices come with a Twin Frozr VI thermal design, which puts Graphic Card air cooling up a notch.

All options come at 276 x 140 x 42 mm all around. Further, they all have 2 HDMI ports, 2 Display Ports and DL-DVI-D ports.

The MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G has core clock speeds of 1316 MHz and 8GB of GDDR5 memory. Meanwhile, its non-X variant has core clock speeds of just 1292 MHz, but the same memory of 8GB GDDR5.

The MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 4G has a core clock of 1316 MHz, like the X 8G variant, but has only 4GB of GDDR5 memory. The non-X variant of the 4G has the same memory, but only has a core clock speed of 1292 MHz.

As a whole, the Redeon RX 480 GPUs allow for the best possible virtual reality experience to a wide array of users. It boasts of an experience that decreases the risk of motion sickness, as it is both effortless and comfortable.
