'A Series of Unfortunate Events' Air Date & Latest News: Show Slated For 2016 Release Date; What We Know So Far

Ever since Netflix confirmed that "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will be made into a series back in 2014, a release date has never been announced. Nearly two years after casting has been confirmed, the show is bound to be released within this year already.

Netflix initially planned to carry out 13 episodes for the televising of the classic best-selling children's book entitled "A Series of Unfortunate Events." However, since they announced the news back in 2014 and the cast has been drafted already, the production has had bumps along the way. Recently, there have already been reports that the much-awaited series will already be aired within the year.

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" is based on a book of the same title. The series will be produced by Paramount Television and Mark Hudis will serve as the showrunner, and it will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, according to Parent Herald.

The show will be like the book, following the lives of three kids who lost their parents at a young age. The story of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" tells the lives of the three kids who go on to live with a relative (an uncle) that they have never even met, Count Olaf.

Count Olaf, to be portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris, is a character that is evil towards the kids and makes sure that disasters happen to them, who is probably after the children's inheritance as well.

Casting for the upcoming show initially began in 2015 with actor Neil Patrick Harris playing the show's antagonist. Crossmap reported that the cast and crew were spotted shooting for "A Series of Unfortunate Events" in Vancouver, Canada. Some residents spotted NPH in his Count Olaf costume and was said to be highly unrecognizable with all the prosthetics on him.

Despite not having an official release date yet, the series is set to premiere this coming Fall. This was highly speculated especially after they were seen shooting for it already.
