'Jason Bourne' Review: New Movie A Disappointment; Why It Failed

There have been mixed reviews with the new "Jason Bourne" movie and it's not looking so good. Editing effects of the movie has been criticized since it didn't really meet the expectations of the viewers' awaiting this Bourne comeback.

The new installment in the Bourne series, entitled "Jason Bourne," is directed by Paul Greengrass who directed the "Bourne Supremacy" movie back in 2004. It has been more than a decade since Paul worked with the protagonist of the movie, Matt Damon.

The vigorous style of Paul in shooting and editing has been called out by the critics, saying it has an old-school vibe to it according to New York Times. However, it doesn't necessarily take the thrill of the movie entirely away; it just makes it somewhat passive. The role portrayed by Matt Damon as Jason Bourne was also criticized to have been passive.

ABC News reported that a certain Jason Di Rosso commented that the new "Jason Bourne" movie looked like it was "edited by two geeks in a room who haven't slept." The director, Paul, reportedly also shared credit in writing the film.

Paul's camerawork was also criticized by its quivering camerawork that allegedly became a generic action movie music that is not stopped. The plot of the story was also called out for being squeezed in, despite the complexity of the story line. Critics claim that the movie deserved better effects, better editing and a better outcome.

Despite the movie receiving many criticisms, actor Matt Damon has showcased a very good physique even at his age of 45. He is now looking more muscular compared to his last appearance in a Bourne movie, more than ten years ago. USA Today reported that Damon's trainer wanted to exhaust the former in his training to project a proper build.

Amidst the criticisms on the movie, it had average reviews and the actor was also praised for his appearance as Jason Bourne.
