Prepaid iPhone: Pros and Cons

Cricket Wireless is all set to offer prepaid iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S plans in the US. The $55 per month plan will be available from June 22 offering unlimited text, voice and data with a fair usage policy of 2.3GB per month. Should you buy one?

This prepaid offer sounds quite attractive compared to the $80-$100 monthly plans that is linked with smartphones for 2-years contract. But this contract-less iPhone plan does not include the subsidies that make an iPhone affordable for users. The 16GB iPhone 4S will be available for $499 and the 8GB iPhone 4 will cost $399. So, before trying any of these options, it would be a better idea to check the features.

The best feature of iPhone 4S is its 8-megapixel camera. Simple editing features like red-eye reduction, crop and rotate are also added with it. People can also capture 1080p HD video using this camera and capture amazing photos with backside illumination sensor and larger aperture.

Another attractive feature of this latest iPhone is its blazing fast A5 chip. Users can enjoy fast processing speeds and games with it. Other striking features include Siri integration, Airplay, Wireless syncing and Fingerprint resistant.

But what makes this prepaid iPhone most attractive is its no contract plan involvement. User gets complete freedom to drop the service at any time as Cricket Wireless doesn't require contracts. Moreover, people don't have to pay any Early Termination Fees or face credit checks as there is no contract involved in this plan.

However, there are some problems associated with prepaid plan too. Contract-free service naturally means the user have to pay a not so pocket-friendly price for the device. The post-paid service providers like Sprint, AT&T and Verizon are subsidizing the device cost and adding a contract service to recoup the money whereas prepaid providers are making you pay the full price of the hardware.
