Apple’s iOS 9.3.4 Update Comes With Security Fix

On Thursday, August 4, just over two weeks after releasing iOS 9.3.3 public beta version, Apple has released an iOS 9.3.4 update for its iOS 9 operating system.

The iOS 9.3.4 can be installed on all devices running iOS 9. The new Apple iOS update is available immediately via an over-the-air download.

One of the important improvements brought by the iOS 9.3.4 update is a fix for the Pangu iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak exploit. Apple explains the security fix included in the update in a support document. According to the document, Apple credits Team Pangu with discovering a security flaw. The vulnerability issue is related to a memory corruption issue.

According to MacObserver, Pangu's jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3 requires users to connect their iPad or iPhone to their computer in order to use the hack. Pangu allows users to install apps outside of the Apple's App Store, like other jailbreaks. Unfortunately, several Pangu users found that their Facebook logins, PayPal accounts and credit cards were compromised after using the jailbreak tool.

Now that the 9.3.4 update is out, iOS 9.3.3 Pangu jailbreakers do not need to worry anymore. Apple's update fixes the major security issue that could expose personal account information. However, by installing the update the Pangu jailbreak will be blocked from working.

According to MacRumors, Apple's release notes state that iOS 9.3.4 is recommended for all iOS 9 users and provides "an important security update." Tech experts believe that iOS 9.3.4 is likely to be the last update to Apple's iOS 9. The high-tech company is expected to launch iOS 10 in September alongside new iOS devices.

iOS 10 will come with new features, including an overhauled Messager app with new functionality, a revamped Lock screen experience, a redesigned Music app, a new Photos app with facial and object recognition, a Siri SDK for developers and a centralized HomeKit app.
