Niantic Plans On Developing Video Game Contact Lenses For Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go has been an instant hit right after it was released a month ago, inspiring people to walk and explore their neighborhood just to catch these cute little monsters and compete with other players. This whole new gaming experience could be better for the players in the future and Niantic, the game's developer, is planning on making it more exciting for these aspiring Pokemon trainers.

John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic Labs, reportedly wants to create a contact lens that enables players to experience the game more realistically han ever. According to Daily Mail, the planned contact lenses work like the augmented reality feature which is currently on the game. It will project images through the lenses that enable players to see the animated Pokemon characters without looking into the screens of their phones.

Having this kind of technology is a great advantage to the players ending the strange sight of tons of players wandering through public places just frequently looking to their screens as they try to find some Pokemon nearby. This would be a great first step towards achieving the dreams of thousands of players which is experiencing the game in reality as they would see Pokemon, gyms and PokeStop in the real world.

Hanke added that it will also benefit the game in attaining one of its main goals and that is to encourage players to discover the world around them. While he is on stage at the conference in Rancho Palos Verdes in LA, Hanke told the LA Times that he thought smart glasses and contact lenses could eventually be used to play the game and as a science-fiction fan he wants to make it happen in the near future.

If Hanke and the rest of his team succeeds on this idea, it will definitely change the shape of the game and for the players, a less hassle, less prone to accidents and a natural way to find and catch Pokemon all over the globe.
