Sony Confirms PlayStation Event On September 7; PS Neo/PS 4.5 To Make Debut?

The public may get their first official look at the PlayStation 4.5 or the PlayStation Neo this September. Invitations have been sent out for a press conference by Sony that will be held in New York on September 7.

According to C|Net, the event will lead to the big reveal of the newest console from Sony. The company released email invitations to journalists in order to spread the word. The publication also claims that the invitation only stated that the event will be a "PlayStation Meeting," without any actual mention of the PS 4.5. However, Sony has no other upcoming releases that could be officially launched at the event.

Qhile the full specs of the device have not been disclosed, Sony President and CEO Andrew House confirmed that it will have Ultra HD 4K graphics. The statement was made during House's pre-E3 interview. He further added that it would "sit alongside and complement the standard PS4."

So the upcoming console will definitely not be the PlayStation 5, but will only have slight enhancements from the current PS4. It will have better software, enhanced graphics and stronger horsepower. In addition, the current games will still be backwards-compatible, only with better visuals.

Business Insider adds that the horsepower that will come with the PS 4.5 would be ideal for Sony's virtual reality player, the PlayStation VR. The timing is perfect as well, since the event will be right after US Labor Day.

This event will provide Sony just the right amount of groundwork and momentum to gain plenty of holiday sales. Furthermore, the invitation release may just halt some interested buyers from purchasing the Xbox One S. The event will be held in New York on September 7 at 3pm E.T, noon P.T.
