Nintendo NX To Come In Two Variants; Bethesda Starting To Develop Games For New Console?

All this time, the Nintendo NX has been rumored to be a hybrid device that mixed the efficiency of a portable device and the power of a docked console. The idea itself was promising and plenty of individuals rode on it. However, despite the innovations it could have offered, it was never officially confirmed. Now rumors suggest that instead of a two-in-one console, Nintendo might release the NX in two variants.

According to IBT, Nintendo is searching for two separate retail marketing leads, namely one for portable gaming devices and one for consoles. The publication goes on to confirm that the listings are relatively old, but that it is likely to grow within the next few weeks.

Though it has not been confirmed yet, it could be that the Nintendo NX will actually come in two variants, with each individual gaming device taking care of one segment. Taking this information at front value, it is possible that there will be a portable Nintendo NX and a console NX.

Either way and in whichever form, the Nintendo NX is expected for release by March 2017. In addition, game developers such as Bethesda are ready to take on the challenge that it will bring. IGN quotes Bethesda's Vice President Pete Hines, as saying that the company is definitely looking into the chance of creating games for the upcoming Nintendo console.

Hines shared that Bethesda is in constant communication with Nintendo and that he is fully aware of how the console is shaping up. He also went on the record to say that Bethesda works on projects on a case-to-case basis. In other words, once Bethesda gets its hands on a game that will work well on the Nintendo NX, only then will it work directly for the console.

After all, Hines was quick to confirm that nothing is specifically in development at this point. "Obviously, we haven't put anything out there [definitively for the NX]," he said. "[But] it's absolutely something that we're looking into and we'll see what comes of it."
