Many theories that are being talked about in various social media, such as Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook, and countless other blogs have been compiled to make it easier for Game of Thrones fans to know more about the upcoming Season 7. Below are the top favorite theories.

Jon's Parentage and Relationship with Sansa

Jon's parentage is one of the most talked about theories now, as it points out that he is a Targaryen due to the  incidents that happened prior to the overthrowing of the Mad King.

There are also some speculations  that Sansa will betray Jon as she is influenced by Littlefinger. This is despite the sibling's reunion in Season 6 where  they retook Winterfell from the Boltons.

Sophie Turner says on an interview with Entertainment Weekly: "From my perspective, I want her and Jon to kind of rule together because it worked in the first instance in the Battle of the Bastards, things went pretty smoothly."

Cersei Becomes the Mad Queen

Lena Heady says, "Not a chance in hell," as she refers to the unlikely possibility that Cersei's reign will be a happy one.

Varys is Really a Merman

This is considered to be one of the weirdest of all theories surrounding the next season of Game of Thrones. Mermans together with mermaids exist in the world of Song of Ice and Fire. These creatures are called as merlings.

The smile of Varys is described in the books to have a peculiar smirk to it, as well as being "slimy". Varys even says to  Tyrion, "You might be disappointed in the result," after Tyrion threatens Varys to be thrown out  to the sea.

Dan Casey, Nerdist senior editor states that, "The entire saga of Game of Thrones could be an elaborate 'mer-scheme' to expand their territory."

Daenerys Sacrificing Herself

This is very possible when referring  to how the trend of the other character's fate were: Hodor sacrificing himself to save the life of Bran Stark, Shireen Baratheon was burned at the stake as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light and the famous sacrifice  of Drogo's horse to save the  Kal's life as required by blood magic.
