Based on several past rumors, the upcoming Macbook Pro 2016 may feature the latest processor from Intel called Kaby Lake. However, there are no further reports supporting the claim and it is reported that Intel is highlighting other chips over Kaby Lake. If this will continue, the new MacBook Pro may possibly settling on the existing Intel's Sky Lake processor.

Based on the sources, Intel apparently prioritizes on launching a 4.5W Y-series and 15W U-series low powered chips. This means that these chips are not for Macbook Pro. The old Intel roadmap reveals that MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac that are suitable for Kaby Lake processors will not be launched until the year end. According to Uber Gizmo, the hopes of having Kaby Lake processors running through this year's Macbook Pro is not that positive enough.

However, this does not mean the upcoming Macbook Pro will be underpowered. But if you are really looking to have a more futureproof laptop for years to come, then waiting is always the key. It really depends on how really you need to buy a new laptop since there are no exact dates of when will be the future Macbook Pros to be refreshed with Kaby Lake processors released. 

According to Yibada, Skylake processors, which is most likely to be the processor that the new Macbook Pro will be running, will boost the CPU speed of the forthcoming devices by 10% up to 20%. Also, Intel iGPU series will be providing the much essential performance in a different types of given conditions. The Macbook Pro 2016 devices will also come with a thinner version due to the efficiency of the Skylake processors.

In the meantime, Macbook Air 2016 will be revealed by Apple within this month or sometime in September along with some of the Apple devices. However, the tech giant has not yet released any official statement about the production of the new Macbook Air that makes the release date still in question.
