'Resident Evil 7' Update: Game Confirms Exclusion Of Leon S. Kennedy’s Cameo

With the details regarding the upcoming Resident Evil 7 are revealed to the public slowly, latest news regarding the game confirms that there will be no latter character's cameo appearance even the fan-favorite, Leon S. Kennedy. Based on the reports, Matt Mercer, the voice actor of Leon, said that he has not been offered by the company to reprise his role and said that Capcom is having another plans for the upcoming game.

According to Follow News, the upcoming Resident Evil 7 is still a mystery despite of the previous video footages hinting the game's synopsis alongside the game's rating. The characters included in the game are also still in question. In addition, Capcom remains silent about the other details for the upcoming Resident Evil 7. However, with the latest revelations from Matt Mercer, fans now have an update regarding the major characters of the upcoming title.

According Game Rant, Matt Mercer revealed several hints to what the focus of the upcoming sequel will be. He said that, "they (Capcom) are scaling back a little bit on throwing in all the classic cameos." Mercer also added that Capcom may have a good reason for choosing another direction for the franchise and thinks that it would be a great idea for the studio to make a fresh start.

However, Mercer has not given up the idea of reprising Leon's character for the later Resident Evil games. He said that he is just eagerly waiting for a phone call from Capcom. Leon's exclusion was not a surprise for some regarding on the reported transition of the upcoming sequel. This move was the last huge transition made by the franchise. But some of the fans are concerned that the upcoming Resident Evil sequel is completely a different part of the franchise.

Regardless, the upcoming Resident Evil 7 sequel still receives positive feedback from fans and are interested on the new project. The demo version of the game has set the records for having the most PS4 downloads and many fans are curious to see how the new direction of Resident Evil will turn out.

Resident Evil 7 is set to be launched on January 24, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and Xbox One platforms.
