'Criminal Minds' Season 12: SPOILER ALERT, Will Emily Prentiss Replace Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner After Thomas Gibson Got Fired?

Weeks before its set return, Criminal Minds Season 12 is still working on some of the details of the show. Fans were sad with Shemar Moore leaving the show and of course, we are all shocked when it was announced that Thomas Gibson was fired from the show because of an on set-altercation.

IBT Times reported that CBS has recently announced that actress Paget Brewster, who played the role of SSA Agent Emily Prentiss will return as a regular on a series. As you may recall, Brewster's appeared as a guest star in the previous seasons of Criminal Minds.

Executive producer Erica Messer said that cast and crew are all excited to have Paget Brewster on the show again. Messer added, "The BAU has definitely missed her, on screen and off. Having her back on set has been great, it' like she never left."

With Brewster back on the show and her character's track record in service, rumors are now circulating that there's a possibility that SSA Emily Prentiss may actually replace SSA Aaron Hotchner as the head of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. She is a great replacement for such a role but fans are left wondering, how will it all fit the story line of Criminal Minds Season 12?

Before reports that Paget Brewster was cast in Criminal Minds Season 12, there were rumors that CBS is actually casting two new actors - one of which will reportedly replace Thomas Gibson's character on the show. CNN reported that one of the actor that was cast is Adam Rodriguez. Rodriguez is going to play the role of FBI Agent Luke Alvez, Agent Morgan's replacement. As for who's going to replace SSA Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner, the studio is remaining tight lipped about it.

Is there a new actor to play or will Paget Brewster be the new head of Behavioral Analysis Unit? Emily Prentiss will make her first appearance on the show on October 12.
