NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers To Acquire Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook Next Season

The Los Angeles Lakers is rumored to take bolder aggressive steps in acquiring Oklahoma City Thunders’ point guard Russell Westbrook and Los Angeles Clippers’ power forward Blake Griffin.

According to Sports Rageous, Lakers is in the process of remaking its team and that means strategic and smart trades are inevitable. The team initially hired the Golden State Warriors assistant coach and former Lakers player Luke Walton as their new head coach.

In the aim of having a bunch of super players, it seems that Lakers is looking forward and would sweat things out to get blockbuster deals from Westbrook and Griffin.

Durant’s Extended Loyalty to Thunder

Kevin Durant’s departure from Thunder equates Westbrook’s nabbing of the main man title in the team. And with Kobe Bryant’s exit from Lakers, the team couldn’t be more alarmed. Such big loss paves the way to Westbrook’s entrance should he agree with a better offer.

However, this picture is a blur. ESPN reported that Westbrook extended his contract with OKC worth a hefty $87.5 million for the next three seasons.

"There's nowhere else I would rather be than Oklahoma City," Westbrook said.

"You guys have basically raised me. I've been here since I was 18, 19 years old. You guys did nothing but great things for me. Through the good and the bad, you guys supported me through it all, and I appreciate it. Definitely when I had the opportunity to be able to be loyal to you guys, that's the No. 1 option. Loyalty is something that I stand by,” he elaborated.

Griffin’s Got A Heart For Clippers

Meanwhile, Blake Griffin keeps his unwavering support to Clippers. Basketball Insiders noted that Clippers president and head coach Doc Rivers believes Griffin retires as a Clippers.

It seems that Blake is better off in Los Angeles especially that he has been training vigorously this summer.

Should this says true for Blake in the future, then we can set the rumors aside and spare Blake of a possible trade.
