Calvin Harris opens up about break up with Taylor Swift only a day after she broke up with Tom Hiddleston. Calvin says he regretted the way their break up has been publicized. The couple broke up last June amid rumors that the Scottish DJ was intimated by the singer's fame.
In an interview with British GQ, Harris said they were very careful with their relationship not to be a media circus. The DJ admitted he is not good at being a celebrity and Swift respected his feelings. But everything changed when they broke up "The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicised than the relationship itself." he said.
"When it ended, all hell broke loose."
The couple ended their 4 month romance in June of 2015. At this time, Harris posted a tweet saying he has "huge amount of love and respect" for his ex, singer Taylor Swift. But at the same month, photographs of the singer with Tom Hiddleston, a british actor, kissing in a summer holiday.
Swift's rep then said that Taylor have actually written the song "This Is What You Came For!" under pseudonym Nils Sjoberg but both have agreed not to publicize their collaboration and keep it down low.
In a series of tweets, Harris said "And she sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual... I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cute the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym."
"I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do... I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy, but I'm not that guy, sorry." Harris added.
Reflecting on what has happened, Harris said in the interview that "I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled." He felt like things were piling up on him that he snapped. Now the DJ sees his Twitter thing was a result of him giving into pressure. It took a while for him to realize that none of it matters. "I'm a positive guy."
