‘The Simpsons’: Fan Favorite Character Frank Grimes To Be Resurrected

Remember Frank Grimes? Homer's sworn enemy who died in Season 8 of "The Simpsons". Well, it looks like he is going to return 20 years later; in ghost form.

The last time we saw old Grimey, he was not what exactly in good shape. His story goes that he was abandoned by his parents at age four, spent his childhood delivering toys to children, and blown up in an explosion but ultimately persevering to get a college degree. Upon watching his story, Mr. Burns decided to get him as his new Executive Vice President. He immediately took a dislike for Homer Simpson's success despite numerous blunders and unbelievable laziness.

Basically, this eats him up until he snaps and imitates Homer by sarcastically touching a high-voltage cable with no gloves. The episode ended with Homer sleeping at his funeral which elicited laughter from the other guests.

This became one of "The Simpsons" most popular episodes and made Frank Grimes one of the show's best peripheral character.

Frank Grimes had several references throughout the year after his character has died. His tombstone is often shown when cemetery scenes are needed and a whole episode from season 14 was about his son, Frank Grimes Jr., seeking revenge against Homer for causing his father's death.

According to a source, Frank Grimes' return to Springfield, is a cameo in the upcoming "Treehouse of Horror" which coincidentally is also their 600th episode.

The story arc will be about Frank Grimes and Sideshow Bob (Bart Simpson's enemy for life) teaming up with two more villains to kill the Simpson family. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Al Jean was quoted as saying,

"They're forming a sinister squadron of Simpsons enemies to try to kill the Simpsons," he continues. "If that doesn't make people tune in, I don't know what else we can say."

Rabid fans of the show will definitely feel the nostalgia of "The Simpsons" golden age when Frank Grimes returns. Those were definitely the good old days.
