Michelle Obama On Rejecting ‘The Simpsons’ Role: ‘Good Try’

It would have been amazing should the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama accept a role on “The Simpsons.”

Obama did an incredible performance in James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” with her version of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” but the fictional town of Springfield seems to be a distant place for her.

“The Simpsons” producer James L. Brooks revealed to Variety that the staff tried to get Obama to take part in the animated sitcom but were rejected. Brooks stressed that they went as far as being “aggressive” in their desire of making Obama say yes to their offer but they received a two – word reply instead.

“We tried to get her on “The Simpsons” and we couldn’t. We finally got a note that said “good try,” because we were so aggressive.”

According to International Business Times, the longest – running animated program had their version of Mrs. Obama (voiced by “American Horror Story” actress Angela Bassett) previously in its season 21 episode 15 titled “Stealing First Base.” The said episode shows her reminding Lisa that it’s alright to be an overachiever.

The popular series may have failed in signing a deal with the first lady but its avid followers still get a grand treat in the upcoming season with A – list guests that include Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Drew Carey, Patton Oswalt, Michael Sheen, Allison Janney and Lizzy Caplan.

In a prior article of iTech Post, it was mentioned that Frank Grimes' homecoming to Springfield as a ghost is slated on the program’s 600th episode "Treehouse of Horror." To recall, Grimes is Homer’s ultimate foe who died in season 8.

Let’s move on from our disappointment over Obama’s declining to play herself in “The Simpsons.” After noting the spoilers, we have plenty of reasons to celebrate with our beloved characters.

“The Simpsons” season 28 will air in September 25 on Fox.
