iPhone 8 Rumors, Specs: No Home Button For Future Model

Apple has recently just introduced its latest flagship phone, the iPhone 7. And as expected, one of the biggest changes in the newest model is the absence of the built-in headphone jack. This risky move has elicited mixed reactions from Apple fans everywhere.

However, it seems this is only the beginning for Apple in their step towards technological revolution. Rumors have it that the company is planning a total makeover for next year's model. This explains why there are minimal changes this year to the iPhone 7, except for the removal of the headphone jack.

Perhaps one big surprise in store for the 2017 iPhone, according to New York Times, is the possibility that Apple will be eliminating its physical home button entirely. Instead, the company plans to make the future iPhone with a full-screen face and have a virtual home button part of the screen directly.

A recent report from The Wall Street Journal claimed that Apple is gearing towards developing a phone that simply appears "like a single sheet of glass." The report also stated, "The current design ideas for the 2017 iPhones are expected to push the handsets in that direction by eliminating much of the bezel around the display, with the Oled screen."

Other than the home button, other features like Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology as well as the camera are being worked into being of the display as well, Gadgets 360 reports. These innovations are said to pave way for a total edge-to-edge display.

Circulating rumors suggest that this major model overhaul might be triggered by Apple's iPhone upcoming 10th anniversary. Also to commemorate this event, Apple may skip the pattern of releasing "S" models and instead immediately name the next phone, the iPhone 8.

Although these rumors have been addressed to the company, Apple refused to comment about it.
