Pokemon GO Update: Buddy Pokémon

To all Pokémon GO fans, the hype is far from over. After the Pokémon GO Plus release, Niantic announces the buddy Pokémon.

Niantic confirmed that the buddy Pokémon is already available for both iPhone and Android users (0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS).

Players are now able to choose a certain Pokémon from the Pokédex. This Pokémon will act as their buddy.

The goal of the player is to earn a candy from their Pokémon buddy by walking it to a certain distance. The players can also switch buddy Pokémons as they wish. In this way, they are able to earn more candies to Pokémons they wish to evolve.

Niantic confirmed that new features are along the way for Pokémon GO. According to CEO John Hanke, the reality smartphone app is being developed to include more Pokémons to be added to the app. Pokédex will get a lot bigger in the future as more creatures will be added to Pokémon GO.

Hanke said his son requested trading buddy Pokémons as well as battling. "It would be fun," according to Hanke, "I have a 10-year-old son. He's my Pokémon expert; and he wants to battle his friends in Pokémon GO, I can tell you that. We talked about trading."

"We've launched the first generation of Pokémon, 150 or so," explained Hanke, "There are over 700 Pokémon in the Pokémon universe. It's always been the intent to gradually introduce more Pokémon into the experience over time."

Hanke further said that events will be part of the Pokémon GO evolution.

"It's like Comic-Con meets a 5K. It's an active thing. You're not just observing. You're playing as part of this big social get-together." Hanke confirmed.
