“Wayward Pines” is set for an epic comeback with its season 3 renewal and the Abbies’ domination in a strange small town.

Fox Executive Dropped Major Hints On Season 3 Renewal
Amid cancellation reports of “Wayward Pines,” Fox Television Group co-chairman/CEO Dana Walden, related to TV Line the strong possibility of getting a green light for a new season.

“I definitely think there could be a Season 3. The producers have a really compelling plan for season 3 that I liked very much. We’re definitely talking about the show right now.”

There it is. If Walden’s statements are short of confirmation, the viewers couldn’t think otherwise.

The unimpressive ratings of the thriller series' second season resulted to a comparison with Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” A report noted that both science fiction series are in strong rivalry against each other considering that the town of Hawkins made a phenomenal season 1, thus the continuation of mystery in season 2. It was also suggested that “Wayward Pines” should be more aggressive in their production just as Netflix did to its famous show.

“I think I’m sharing a point of view of [executive producer M. Night Shyamalan]’s – the first couple episodes were trying to find their way, in a reset. But by the third episode on, it really hit its stride,” explained Walden in addressing the creative changes they are applying on the forthcoming season.

Abbies To Dominate The Town Of ‘Wayward Pines’

Human evolution is the core of the storyline in the new season of the series. The Abbies are set to take the center stage as more humans are expected to transform into highly intellectual Abbies.

The evolution of the horrifying predators will be the biggest threat of human’s survival. Designed to endure the most unfriendly environments, Dr. Theo Yedlin and the rest of the existing humans are up for the most challenging battle of their lives.
