Patterson has expressed his excitement in the upcoming revival, saying that he has always been fighting for the series to return since the fans deserve a great ending to the characters' storylines.

Patterson also admitted how he had difficulty coming back to his character, after not having portrayed it for so long already and has had many shows in between. He believes that among all his other projects, the "Gilmore Girls" fan base is the greatest of them all.

Despite being mature and grown-up already in handling their relationship, Patterson assured the fans that Luke and Lorelai are still as bubbly, jolly and funny as they were when they left off in "Gilmore Girls" season seven.
