iPhone 8 Release Date, Leaks and Specs: To Arrive In Fall 2018? iPhone 7 Successor Boasts New Apple Features

After going three years without major modifications, the best way for Apple to reclaim its reputation for being an innovative brand would be to blow everyone away with its highly anticipated iPhone 8. Prior reports indicate that Apple would go all out during their product launch to celebrate the iPhone's 10th anniversary marked by the release of the iPhone 8.

iPhone 8 Release Date

The release date for the new device might still be within fall but instead of a 2017 release, the iPhone 8 might be launched in fall 2018. However, this theory banks on the belief that Apple is working on the iPhone 7 S and S Plus and that by summer of 2018, there is an iPhone SE 3 handset on its way.

If Apple does away with its S Plus convention, the iPhone 8 might get an earlier launching.

iPhone 8 Rumors: Size And Surface

Nowhereelse.fr, a French site, leaks what is believed to be an image of the iPhone 8. An image from OnLeaks, a reliable site for information about Apple, shows that the device is the size which is similar to that of the iPhone 6s at 67.12mm by 138.3mm.

As for the color variants, there are claims that Apple will do away with Space Grey and instead offer a Deep Blue, Silver, Rose Gold, and Gold phone.

As for the home button, rumors claim that Apple might do away with the button and create a virtual button instead. Apple reportedly filed a patent for a bezel-free device which strengthens this possibility. Apple Insider also hinted that the iPhone 8 could feature curved glass to achieve edge-to-edge display by integrating a 5.8-inch AMOLED display into the new iPhone.

iPhone 8 features: Wireless Charging

As previously reported, it's highly likely that Apple would push through with wireless charging and use the same technology in the smart connector for the iPad Pro. If the new feature of the iPhone 7 provides a clue,  this could indicate that Apple plans to go entirely wireless.

iPhone 8 Security: Iris-Recognition

A previous report by Digitimes indicated that Apple could improve on its current security features. Instead of just a fingerprint sensor, the new iPhone 8 could integrate iris-recognition. There are rumors that Apple is partnering with Xintec, a company based in Taiwan, for this venture and that the tech giant plans to add this feature to a phone that will be released in 2018.

iPhone 8 Camera Quality

Among the numerous patents Apple acquired, the application for a small light splitter which could fit an iPhone may be featured in the iPhone 8. Apple is keen on improving camera quality and it may be making a move to achieve the same quality from DSLR photos in the new device.

Furthermore, iPhone 8 rumors suggest that it would be featuring a dual camera to add depth to pictures and perhaps to support the trend towards augmented reality.

As of date, there is no official announcement from Apple on their next product in development. Needless to say, the iPhone 7 has been quite a success by featuring a better camera, a faster operating system, and overall, a more resilient device.
