'Mad Max: The Wasteland' News And Update: Charlize Theron To Take The Lead Role; Movie Focuses on Furiosa

It looks like "Mad Max: The Wasteland" will be all about Furiosa and her backstory. Charlize Theron is reported to reprise her role while Mad Max, himself, may not be included in the sequel. If so, this could actually be for the good as Theron has said publicly that she and Hardy are not exactly in good terms while on set.

In Theron's recent interviews where she was asked about her relationship with Hardy on set, she said "We drove each other crazy, but I think we have respect for each other, and that's the difference,"

"Maybe the movie is what it is because we struggled so much with each other, and those characters had to struggle so much with each other. If we were chum-chum, maybe the movie would have been 10 times worse." Theron explained.

The film is scheduled to film in New South Wales Broken Hills Studios and will start before 2016 ends up to early months of 2017.

However, nothing is confirmed as of today so anything can change at any time.

If rumors are true and the movie shall focus on Furiosa's story, fans can expect to know more about Imperator Furiosa and her life in the Green Palace. The Green Palace is possibly the only place in the world of Mad Max where it is possible to grow crops and where clean water can be found. But it is ruled by cult leader Immortan Joe.

The first Mad Max movie titled "Mad Max: Fury Road" premiered on May 7, 2015, at the TCL Chinese Theatre. It grossed more than $378 million worldwide that made it the highest-grossing Mad Max franchise movie. It won different critical and guild awards and won 6 Academy Awards namely Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
