Following the announcement of 2K's Mafia 3, currently, it was announced that the crime-fighting game will also have a mobile version. It will be known by its subtitle Rivals. Mafia 3: Rivals will be developed by 2K and Cat Daddy, the developer behind some of the puzzle and strategy games such as Evolve: Hunter Quest. Gamespot also added that Cat Daddy also worked with 2K upon developing NBA 2K and WWE 2K mobile apps.

IGN reported that Mafia 3: Rivals will be more of an RPG game rather than the third person open world gameplay of Mafia 3.
