It would take a while before viewers get to see “Suits” battle in a heavy legal drama onscreen.
After an explosive midseason finale, the popular show has decided to take a long break. In contrast to reports that have surfaced hinting that September 21 is the air date of “Suits” season 6 episode 11, the series is slated for a January 2017 return instead.
The much awaited episode will pick up with the unanswered questions left by the previous episode. Showrunner and creator Aaron Korsh discussed with The Hollywood Reporter the juicy details of the back half.
“We’re picking up right where we usually do, where we left off. Had we gone with that other ending we would have picked up years later; it would have been too devastating not to. But as it is now, all of these characters have a lot going on. Mike has to figure out what he’s going to do. Harvey, Louis and the firm have to figure out what they’re going to do logistically and who’s going to run the place. In addition to that, what are they going to do when the woman who has kept them from sort of killing each other all these years leaves? The last six is about that,” Korsh said.
Indeed, the decision of Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) of leaving the firm was devastating especially to Harvey who was deeply impacted as Jessica served as her mother figure / mentor in his life and his profession.
International Business Times noted that Korsh and Pearson had tough talks about her exit.
"This has been something that Aaron [Korsh] and I have kind of been talking about and banting about for awhile. It's absolutely a mutual thing. Well, he wasn't that happy about it, 'cause we all love Jessica, but he's been awesome, as has been USA, about letting me come home for awhile and tend to my life," Torres explained.
While everyone seems to be in a limbo with Jessica’s quitting the company, the followers of the show will still get to see her as Pearson and Korsh dropped major hints on her comeback.
