Disney Is Joining The Race To Acquire Twitter

On Monday, Sept. 26, Walt Disney emerged as another potential bidder for the struggling social-media service Twitter, according to people familiar with the matter.

Will Disney Buy Twitter?

According to The Wall Street Journal, the negotiations for Twitter's sale are still in early stages but it seems that the list of potential acquires continues to grow. The news about Disney interest in buying Twitter follows the announcement of Twitter negotiations with Salesforce and Google.

According to Fortune, Disney is now said to be interested in possibly buying the real-time news service Twitter. According to a report published by Bloomberg News that cites anonymous sources familiar with the situation, a financial adviser is working with the news and entertainment conglomerate in order "to evaluate a possible bid for Twitter."

Disney and the investment firm are evaluating Twitter's financial data and the potential benefits of buying the company. It is still unclear whether Disney will go further with the takeover process.

According to recent reports, Google and Salesforce are in a similar situation, considering an eventual acquisition of the social media company. Microsoft may also be interested in a takeover bid for Twitter.

Time will tell which company will finally decide to go further with the takeover process. It is also reported that Twitter is working with Goldman Sachs to evaluate the potential takeover offers.

According to market experts, a sale of Twitter could happen fairly quickly. The company might change ownership within the next 30-45 days.

The reasons why Disney would be interested to take over Twitter may not seem obvious and the company may not look like a typical candidate to buy Twitter. However, at a deeper analysis, according to Yahoo Finance News, there are several reasons why the company may be interested.  With around 300 million users, Twitter social media network provides a treasure of real-time data on the various behaviors and interests of its users.
