‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 4 Spoilers, Preview: Agents To Face Fiery Foes, Cursed Apparitions; Punisher’s Possible Appearance

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 is expected to follow a darker theme, as let on by its premiere episode, "The Ghost." The appearance of Ghost Rider who is bent on revenge changes the entire tone and mood of the series, giving it a more violent albeit sexier theme.

In line with its new theme, there are reports that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 will also feature the Punisher. The new season would revolve around supernatural elements in Marvel Cinematic Universe which would be instrumental in tying up with the existence of Doctor Strange.

Premiere Recap and Season 2 Preview

The premiere episode ended with a new A.I. technology, Daisy's confrontation with the vengeful creature from hell and the ghostly specter who might affect May. Despite having a face off, Ghost Riders didn't kill Daisy even if she asked for it.

In the second episode of the series, "Meet the New Boss," the director whom Coulton and May were bickering over in the premiere would be unveiled. There's bound to be another battle between Daisy and Ghost Rider although it remains to be seen if she goes home unscathed as in episode one. With the vengeful spirit's thirst for revenge, there's bound to be many dead bodies in its wake.

Rumored "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Appearances

Although there are no confirmations yet, there are rumors that Netflix star Jon Bernthal, who plays the role of the Punisher in "Daredevil," will make an appearance in the ABC Show. Rumors sparked at the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." premiere when showrunner Jeph Loeb brought Ghost Rider creator Felipe Smith and the man behind the Punisher's appearance, Gerry Conway. He also revealed a cryptic line, "You will understand why I brought all of these people here later in the season, and why it makes sense."

Given the new direction that the show is taking, a character like the Punisher would fit right in and this would tie up Marvel Universe. Needless to say, the appearance of Ghost Rider in the series will tie up with "Doctor Strange" closer to the superheroes. Who would be better equipped to deal with the supernatural than a doctor with the ability to protect against mystical and magical threats?

While a Netflix and ABC show crossover would be great, it wouldn't be done anytime soon. Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs every Tuesday 10 p.m. EST.
