GTX 1050 vs GTX 1050 Ti: Full Specs Comparison

Nvidia is said to be coming out with the GeForce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti this October. The new graphics cards are the latest in the Pascal architecture line of GPUs that Nvidia has released since that the firm kicked off last May with the GTX 1080. The new graphics cards will likely cater more to casual and moderate gamers than hardcore gamers.

The coming GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti will both have the GP107 Pascal core, Trusted Reviews notes. More cores would be enabled on the GTX 1050 Ti with 768 as opposed to the GTX 1050, which will only have 640 cores enabled.

The new GP107 core would be replacing the old GM107 core graphics cards, according to WCCFTech. The GM107 cards have been around since 2014, though they have been doing well in the market with their price points as well as low power requirements.

The new GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti would also have lower power requirements. Both only require 75W to run as compared to the GTX 1080, which uses 180W. It is not clear yet whether both will have power connectors, though since they won't be needing much power to run it is unlikely that they will have power connectors for the PC power supply.

The GTX 1050 Ti will be a little bit more powerful with 4 GB DDR5 VRAM. The GTX 1050 will only have 2 GB DDR5 VRAM. Notebook Check also lists that the GTX 1050 will support DirectX 12 and the GTX 1050 Ti will likely be the same.

Base clock speed for the GTX 1050 is 1354MHz, surprisingly faster than the GTX 1050 Ti which only has 1290MHz. The boost clock speeds of the GTX 1050 is 1455MHz while the GTX 1050 Ti has 1382MHz.

Both graphics cards are aiming for casual to moderate gamers, and their prices reflect this. The rumored prices are $119 for the GTX 1050 and $149 for the GTX 1050 Ti. Prices though are still tentative and might still change. October is said to be its release time but there are no exact dates given yet when they would be released.
