Blackberry DTEK60 Spotted, Release Date Might be Coming Soon

DTEK60 is the BlackBerry's latest smartphone codenamed "Argon." It is the second Android handset by the company that is planned for the year, following DTEK50 and last year's Priv.

Photos of the DTEK60 have recently surfaced, showing off key design and specs elements.

In a report from Slashgear, the designs of DTEK50 and DTEK60 do not have notable differences in terms of size and in rear view, but the biggest distinction will be the fingerprint sensor. The former does not have it, while the next-to-be-released Android BlackBerry should have one below the 21-megapixel main camera.

Speaking of cameras, the front snapper should be at 8 megapixels.

DTEK60 Rumored Specifications Indicate a Powerhouse

Rumors have it that the upcoming smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 paired with a 4GB RAM. It should also have 32GB internal storage, though it is unknown if there are other memory configurations and if it is expandable.

When BlackBerry teased about its third Android smartphone others were surprised not by what DTEK60 will bring to its customers but the price of this high-performance smartphone, which is considerably lower compared to other well-equipped smartphones.

BlackBerry is famous for its Convenience Key and now, the company is bringing it back. Back tracking, it is a button that the user can click to select his customized app without going through the trouble of closing running apps. In much simpler terms, it is a shortcut.

Another information leaked is that DTEK60 has no physical QWERTY keyboard. Like the DTEK50, it will have a multi-touch display.

It is expected to come out of the box with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and not on the more recent Android 7.0 Nougat. It is unknown when the latest Android software might arrive to BlackBerry's new smartphones.

DTEK60 Features

BlackBerry aims for users to "get twice as much done with half of the effort" with the DTEK50. DTEK60 might have the same features with its predecessor because it is expected to sport the same Android user interface.

The challenge for Blackberry is to continue manufacturing Android-powered smartphones with great features partnered with a great price.
