OnePlus X Getting A Facelift: Rumors

The sacrifice of a budget phone is normally that it does not sport the best specs currently available in the market. Unfortunately, these types of phones just cannot run on the same power and efficiency as more expensive options. Therefore, when an update rolls out, it is pretty big news. In this case, it is for the OnePlus X.

OnePlus X And Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

According to GSM Arena, the Chinese smartphone company has already started to roll out an operating system update for its OnePlus X units. However, it will take a few weeks until all units are notified of the change.

The new Android build is arriving as part of OxygenOS 3.1.2, which can be updated directly if a handheld is already running on versions 2.2.3, 3.1.0 or 3.1.1. With the new build, the update also provides new icon packs, a new Google search bar user interface, a new design for the wallpaper picker and new Alert Slider settings. Furthermore, two new apps will be automatically installed - OnePlus Music and OnePlus Gallery.

Of course, like with all other updates, this one will fix small bug issues and will provide performance improvements as well.

OnePlus X: The Company's Best Budget Option

As far as budget phones go, however, the OnePlus X is one of the best that the market currently has to offer.

As Android Central reports, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on 3GB of RAM. Out of the box, it has 16GB of internal storage, but this is expandable for up to 128GB via a microSD card. The rear camera is a humble 13 megapixels, while the front camera is 8 megapixels. The unit is also relatively reliable, as it carries a 2525 mAh battery.

All around, it measures just 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm and is available in a Black Onyx or Ceramic versions, which weigh only 138 grams or 160 grams.
