“I took inspiration from Coco de Mer when I was writing the [Fifty Shades] books and visited the boutique in Covent Garden [in London] as part of my research. The collection, priced in the range of £15-£60, represents six flirtatious lines: Red Room, Escala, Masquerade, Goddess, Steele, and Anastasia. Each is reported to embody elements from the erotic romance novel and various phases in Ana's journey to taking a more "dominant" character in her intense relationship with Christian.

A report noted that "Fifty Shades Darker" ad revealed a darker, raunchy and more thrilling storyline for Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele).
